Perfection

What is perfection? I was curious what societies view of perception of perfection was so I went to google images to find out. I had my fingers and toes crossed that an image of Christ would appear, to my disappointment it did not. I searched the three pages or so and no such image. Pictures of scenery, flowers, and bodies covered the page. This breaks my heart. Does society really not know that God is the only one who is perfect? “He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.” Deuteronomy 32:4. The bible tells us that God is perfect, so why do we strive to fill God’s place with other things? Human beings are born with a sinful nature therefore we cannot reach perfection. “The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery, idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies and the like” Galatians 5:19-21. Do any of these sound familiar? If you say no then you are wrong. These types of things flood our everyday lives and destroy us. We all fall short of the glory of God, who is perfection.

There is one thing that we can do we can take God up on the best offer we will ever be presented. We as sinners can admit we are sinners in need of a savior, accept Jesus as our personal savior, and live for God because, “As for God, his way is perfect: The LORD’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him” 2 Samuel 22:31. Because when one accepts Jesus as their Savior 2 Corinthians 5:17 “therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone and the new has come!” God can help us cleanse ourselves of our sinful self. “but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears” 1 Corinthians 13:10.
